Screens Slurry Level

Application Conditions:

Water vapor, slurry condensation, agitation, froth, foam on surface, falling water, variable temperature.

Level Technology Choice:

Because the slurry changes in density, which would affect the accuracy of hydrostatic pressure transducers, and the slurry may have small solids in suspension, it is preferable to use a non-contact type of instrument. The slurry can also have highly conductive froth and foam on the surface which would attenuate a Radar signal. The slurry also gives off a slurried condensation and splash which requires the instrument to have self-cleaning. The dielectric of the slurry can also change.

The best choice in these mining and minerals operating environments is to use a low-frequency Acoustic transmitter that will penetrate through froth and foam and not be affected by changing dielectric characteristics of the slurry. The pressure wave from the pulse will atomize the condensation from the diaphragm. The Acoustic transducer will not be affected by density variation of the slurry due to Orebody changes.

The 20 kHz and the 15 kHz transmitters can be operated also on 2 wire Foundation FieldBus and ProfiBus PA communications. Positioning of the transducer will vary, based on vessel shape and size.
